Best activities & tours on North Island

Here are some of the best New Zealand North Island tours! Honestly, I recommend doing at least 2-3 of them – Hobbiton, the Glow Worm Caves, a Maori Cultural experience… if you can do all of them, it’s worth it!

I always compare tours on Viator and Get Your Guide to check prices and different tour availability.

Hobbiton day tour – This is a must do on North Island – it’s a right of passage!

White Water Rafting Rotorua – This has the HIGHEST commercial waterfall to raft down, great for adrenaline junkies.

Glow worm caves – Dont miss the iconic glow worm caves on North Island!

Maori Cultural Experience – one of the most impactful and immersive experiences you need to try on North Island!

Hell’s Gate Mud Bath Spa – if you’re after some pampering, this is for you!

Waiheke Island Wineries + dolphin tours – Waiheke is known for the dolphin cruises and the wineries. Pick a tour and don’t miss this!

QT hotel Wellington

This fantastical Hotel has so many different elements and attributes to it. I will try and encompass it all in one article.

As you arrive you will notice a great brass hippo on the outside and noticed that this is the motif throughout the hotel. You’ll find it everywhere inside from your rooms to the sculptures and statues near the bar.

As you enter, you will in immediately notice huge pieces of artwork, showcasing some of the best modern artists of our time, and you can’t fail to appreciate the beauty of the interior.

The lobby is literally like an art gallery! There is so much art to appreciate on every floor of this beautiful property.

You also noticed some fun and wacky artistic features, such as the beehive wall and the roaring hippos just outside your room door.

Additionally, the staff here are wonderful and are there to help you in whatever way they can.

Rooms

We had the best room, which was hugely spacious and came complete with lovely shower, freestanding bath, a huge room, calm, living area with plenty of comfortable chairs, table and chairs for working space and coffee machine and all the luxury amenities you’d expect from a high class hotel.

Don’t forget the best part which is the balcony with a wonderful view of the harbour and Te Papa Museum which is just two minutes across the road. The bed is a super king and wonderfully spacious soft and cosy and I can’t recommend it enough.

Drink you can sit down and have a drink or sit down in a hideaway corner to do a bit of work that jcauich is exceptional as you were sent a rounded by excellent interior design and fantastical paintings and sculptures.

There is some available parking at QT hotel, but make sure you book in advance or inform them in advance of your trip. There is valet parking as well as public parking. However the public parking is paid unusually for a fixed amount of time so it might be a good idea to let the hotel know.

there are a limited number of parking spaces on site, but they do also have a nearby car park where they can park cars. There is also charging facilities for electric cars on site and the concierge team will take good care of any needs you may have.

QT Hotel Breakfast

QT Hotel Wellington does an excellent breakfast buffet, and it has a wide range of really delightful fresh Ingredients, ready to start your day off strong. It’s got everything from cereals, croissants, fresh fruit, eggs, and bacon.

When we went, the QT Hotel Wellington restaurant was temporarily closed for lunch and dinner, so it’s best to call ahead to check if it’s open.
