Sky Capsule Busan

Sky Capsule Busan is a little bit famous; you might have seen the beautiful colourful pods of the Haeundae Blueline Park on social media or on the internet somewhere! They slowly traverse across the South Korean Coast and you get to admire the views of the other quirky and cute pods and capsules that float across the landscape.

The Haeundae Beach Train and Haeundae Sky Capsule Busan are fairly new and not yet famous; but you absolutely must do this in Haeundae, Busan. There’s also a lovely coastal walking trail called the Busan Green Railway that goes along the same route as the train that is a great place to capture photos, too.

Haeundae Blueline Park – The Sky Capsule Busan Project

South Korea – sky capsule Busan, blueline park

In the Haeundae Special Tourist Zone of Busan, Haeundae Blue line Park is a core tourist attraction as they strive and continue to make Busan an international tourist city. It was built in an eco-friendly redevelopment of the old railway facility of the East Sea South Line, the Donghae Nambu Line. It operates Haeundae Beach Train and Haeundae Sky Capsule Busan along the beautiful coastal scenery along a 4.8 km section from Haeundae Mipo station through Cheongsapo station to Songjeong station.

It’s worth booking a tour to ride on some Sky Capsules for the full experience, and sightseeing around Busan, especially if you’re limited for time! I always compare tour prices and itineraries on Get Your Guide and Viator.

There are plenty of tours to Sky Capsule that you can book onto, and they will normally combine it with some other sights around Busan as part of their itinerary. They will also be able to give you a full recommendation on the best photo spots within Busan, so that’s a win too!

You can also book on tours from Seoul too! Don’t forget to Busan X The Sky – and incredible viewpoint of Haeundae Beach and the city.

Gamcheon Culture Village

Hotels in Busan

We stayed in a guesthouse (which was honestly just like a hotel), but there are plenty in the area. You can choose to stay in Busan City Centre (like we did), or by the Haeundae Beach and Sky Capsule. Both are great locations. I personally preferred being in the city because you’re close to so many attractions like the Gamcheon Culture village, but it’s all beautiful, and it doesn’t take that long to travel between both places.

Budget option with a view: I can recommend K Guesthouse, which has stunning views of the city, and you can even get a glimpse of Gamcheon Culture Village in the distance too! Prices start from £20 / $25 USD.

Avani Central Busan: This is a great mid tier option, with prices starting from £70 or $88 USD, excellent views and great decor.

Lotte Hotel Busan: This is a lovely incredible hotel, with tonnes of reviews and great views right in the heart of the city. It comes with great reviews too!

Paradise Hotel Busan: Luxury hotel next to Sky Capsule with a view, right on Haeundae Beach!

Best Cafes with a view near Sky Capsule

Some of the best cafes near Sky Capsule; it can be hard to pick a few thanks to the ridiculous views, but here’s a summary, there’s a number of cafes to choose from! The food is rather unusual and spectacular! Expect bubble ice creams, unusual shaped waffles and the weird and wonderful!

Head to Cafe Rooftop by Cheongsapo, they have a great coffee and choco-latte! They have the biggest, widest windows which are perfect for viewing the seaside.

It’s also worth checking out the cafe inside the train station at Cheongsapo, they have huge windows that overlook the Beach trains.

And lastly, have a look at HUS Cafe for incredible sea views!

I also had plenty of ice creams from many parlours along the way, often in unnamed cafes along the coast, you will find plenty of view points to stop at no matter where you are.

It’s worth booking a tour to Sky Capsule for the full experience, and sightseeing around Busan, especially if you’re limited for time! I always compare tour prices and itineraries on Get Your Guide and Viator.

Viewpoints & Things to see along the route at Sky Capsule

If you want a scenic picture, there’s literally hundreds of viewpoints along the way, you won’t be limited for choice. Every second you can be snapping pictures if you want to!

It’s amazing to see redevelopment of an old railway line can transform a place with a into to one of South Korea’s most beautiful places, thriving with tourism, life, laughter, cafes and it is extremely popular too!

If you’re worried about trying to find a viewpoint near Sky capsule, don’t sweat it. There are hundreds of viewpoints at EVERY turn. I felt like every 5 meters there was a new viewpoint, and there are plenty of shops, cafes with huge windows displaying the gorgeous seaside or the multiple lighthouses.

There’s a number of things to see along the way!

Cheongsapo Daritdol Observatory

This is a very short walk away from Cheongsapo Station, and it’s worth a visit to this huge glass pier that juts out into the sea. Do you dare to walk on the glass sections to see the ocean far below? It’s not as scary as it looks! Have a peak through the binoculars and see if you can spot any sea life or the waves crashing up along the rocks and coastline.

The Red Lighthouse: Cheongsapo Twin Lighthouse

Don’t miss the infamous Cheongsapo Twin Lighthouse, the more notable of which is a vibrant red. It’s definitely worth a walk up the coast here towards the Cheongsapo Daritdol Observatory! You can’t miss it, it’s right by the exit of the station!

Dalmaji Tunnel, Busan

Don’t miss the colourful Dalmaji Tunnel, which is painted in different colours meaning it’s a great photo opportunity! At night, it’s lit up in brilliant rainbow colours, so if you’re heading to Sky Capsule Busan for sunset, see if you can stick around till night has fallen to see this little gem!

Haeundae Beach, Busan

Don’t miss the incredible views along Haeundae Beach at sunset, it’s right next to Mipo Station, about a 5 minute walk! Definitely include this on your day out to this area of Busan, the golden colours are something else!

The traditional markets of Haeundae

When you’re visiting Haeundae in Busan, you absolutely must check out the lively Haeundae Traditional Market. This place is a food lover’s dream, with so many delicious dishes and enticing smells that it’s impossible not to have a memorable and authentic experience. Plus, it’s located right next to the the famous Haeundae Beach, so it’s the perfect day trip to this area, unless you’re already staying here. Stop for dumplings, or some kimchee, a bibimbap or some bulgogi; some of my very favourite dishes. Yum!
